Welcome to Volorca!
Introduction
Why Volorca
Volorca is non-custodial.
No person or entity is able to move users' funds contrary to the pre-defined rules of the protocol.
Volorca is fully on-chain.
This allows Volorca to enjoy the same benefits of decentralization as the underlying blockchain. Price references are taken from censorship-resistant on-chain exchange protocols.
Volorca is interoperable.
Volorca tokenizes option positions into fungible, ERC-20 tokens, allowing them to be traded on any DEX.
These positions can also eventually be traded on CEXes with minimal technical integration.
Volorca is 100% collateralized.
Contract sellers lock up an amount equal to the maximum a contract buyer can receive: no counter-party credit risk.
In addition, collateral may be deployed via interest-yielding protocols to enhance capital efficiency.
Mechanism Overview
Volorca tokenizes positions, making them fungible.
Long position tokens and short position tokens are minted in equal amounts when USDC is deposited into an option instrument.
At expiry, holders of the long and short tokens will be able to redeem the corresponding amounts that they are entitled to.
Eg. If the contract expires out-of-the-money, holders of the long token are entitled to 0 USDC, whereas holders of the short token are entitled to redeem 100% of the deposited USDC. The USDC is then split according to the portion of short tokens held by each user.
Volorca Token
Please be aware that there is CURRENTLY NO Volorca Token.
The only tokens in the Volorca Protocol at the moment are the LONG and SHORT position tokens.
Our objective is to establish Volorca as the leading protocol for on-chain derivatives, focusing on long-term sustainability and value creation.
We are refraining from hastily issuing a Volorca Token until its benefits for the protocol are evident and backed by a thoughtfully designed token-distribution strategy.
